CALAN GAEAF STORIES

FRIDAY 1 NOVEMBER

2 - 4pm

Join Peter Stevenson for an hour of storytelling from his book ‘Illustrated Welsh Folk Tales for Young and Old’ plus book making and crankie making.

Noson Galan Gaeaf, which means 'Winter's Eve', is an 'Ysbrydnos' or 'Spirit Night', a time when spirits can roam the world of the living.

The Celtic calendar divided the year into a light half and a dark half.

Celtic folklore suggested that the first day of winter, which saw in the new Celtic year, was when the veil between our world and the ‘otherworld’ known as ‘Annwn’ was at its thinnest and spirits could roam the earth.

BINDERELLA

THURSDAY 19 DECEMBER

doors open 7pm

Welsh storytellers and myth makers, The Ragged Storytelling Collective will be fusing together modern myths and Welsh folk music in an unforgettable performance, Binderella.

Binderella is a tale for our times, a wild birth-myth of an Anti-Goddess who challenges the forces of greed and despair that seek to steal our future from us. This anarchistic wonder story peeks through the cracks in our society, fusing an environmental rallying cry with an uplifting call for compassion and courage in this age of crisis.
